Frequently Asked Questions
Nano Brows, Powder Brows & Lash Line Enhancement
Is the procedure painful? Does it cause bleeding or scabbing?
The Nano Brows and Powder Brows procedures are not painful. There is no bleeding during procedure, as there are no cuts. Since there are no cuts or skin trauma you will not have any scabbing during the healing process.
What is the healing time?
The healing time for the permanent make procedures I perform is between 5-7 days. These procedures don't affect your daily life in any way. The point of the procedures is to make your daily life easier. Most clients only experience some dry skin around the procedure areas. It is barely noticeable.
Can I go to the gym, use the sauna or take part in other similar activities after the procedure?
You can still go to the gym, however, it is recommend you keep your brows as clean and dry as possible for the first week. If you are working out and know you will be sweating then it is a good idea to wear a head band and wash up with mild soap and water as soon after your workout as possible. You should not use the sauna or hot tub for the first week. You should also keep showers and baths short. You do not want to sit in a hot steamy bath or shower for an extended period of time during the first week.
How long does the procedure take?
I usually schedule 2-3 hours per procedure. Procedures are never rushed and there is always plenty of time to answer and questions you may have.
How long does it last? Is it permanent?
These procedures are considered semi-permanent. Generally speaking, Nano Brows and eye lash enhancement lasts about 1.5 to 2 years on average. However, there is some variance based on an individuals skin type so it could be a little less or a little more. Eventually, the pigments will fade away if you don’t get the areas touched up.
How do I prepare for the procedure?
There is no specific preparation for Nano Brows. If you are getting lash line enhancement then you cannot wear contact lenses.
Can I consume caffeine prior to the procedure?
You sure can! Go ahead and have that morning coffee… heck, have two! Since there is no cuts, bleeding or skin trauma, the caffeine from a coffee or two does not affect anything. It’s actually beneficial to both of us if you have your morning java… have you tried talking to a coffee drinker before they’ve had their first cup? Ya, I don’t wanna deal with that either, LOL!
Can I get Nano Brows, Powder Brows or lash line enhancement while breast feeding?
Yes you can! Although, as with anything health related, each individual is unique so I request you discuss it with your doctor first and provide a doctors note when arriving for your procedure. I have had multiple clients in the past receive doctors notes for PMU during breastfeeding with no difficulties.
Can I get PMU if I am diabetic?
Yes you can! Although, as with anything health related, each individual is unique so I request you discuss it with your doctor first and provide a doctors note when arriving for your procedure. I have done procedures on many diabetic clients in the past, both insulin and non-insulin dependent. The healing process has always been excellent and I have never encountered any complications.
I am a blonde, do you have the right pigment colours for me? Will my brows look natural?
Yes, of course! I always fine tune all pigment shades to the specific client. I have a very wide selection of pigments and have taken courses specifically related to pigmentology. I utilize the Fitzpatrick skin type scale on every client. This ensures the proper selection of pigments in relation to skin colour and tone. I have pigments for all skin types and hair colours. I always try to stay as natural as possible.
Will my brows look big, dark and fake?
No, I specialize in Hyperrealism. Your brows will look natural and most people won’t even realize you have PMU. I understand the fear and hesitation associated with a permanent makeup procedure on the face. Most clients come with the same fear. We have all seen horrific images of botched PMU procedures online and on TV. It is unfortunate that this happens so frequently and as a result it’s understandable to be concerned. This is why I always remind my clients to do the proper research when choosing an artist and a procedure. I can reassure you that I am incredibly qualified. I have spent thousands of hours on education and practice. I have over a dozen various certifications related to permanent makeup. Aside from being a PMU artist I am also an instructor and have taught internationally next to some of the best PMU artists in Europe. I am proud of my educational and professional achievements. I hold pride in the work I do. I understand the trust clients put in me and I treat my clients the way I would expect to be treated. This is why I believe in natural beauty. My job is to enhance your existing beauty in a tasteful way. I focus on your natural anatomy and enhance your natural features. My goal is to recreate a realistic and natural appearance. I DON’T DO FAKE! I will refuse to do any procedure which I feel will not be appealing. I will not exaggerate features nor will I do work that will look bad in the long term. My clients best interests are always my priority.
What is lash line enhancement? Is it permanent? Does it hurt? How long does it take to heal?
Lash Line enhancement is a procedure done on the top eyelid in the area where your eye lashes grow. This is a semi permanent make up procedure. It will fade away over time. This procedure is not painful but could be considered uncomfortable by some people, specifically the first pass. A numbing agent is applied prior to the first pass to reduce initial discomfort. Another anesthetic is applied prior to the second pass and after that most clients report not feeling anymore discomfort.
Healing time is about 2-3 days. There is no scabbing. You can go about your regular life routines.
Why don’t you do permanent eye liner?
I choose to focus on natural beauty and I believe that PMU eyeliner doesn't look natural. Aside from not looking natural it is permanent, it’s there forever. The client needs to accept that once they have permanent eyeliner there is no way back. I always focus on honesty when discussing permanent make up and my goal is to do what is best for my clients. I do not want anyone to be disappointed with their decisions in the long term. I treat my clients the way I would like to be treated. If permanent eye liner is something you were thinking about I would urge you to consider lash line enhancement instead which is a semi-permanent procedure and if you want eyeliner, draw it on. At least this way you have the choice of wearing make up, instead of being stuck with dark eye liner 24/7. That's my honest opinion.
Why do I need to pay a deposit?
A $100 non-refundable deposit is required when you book to secure your appointment time. The reason behind this is to ensure clients are serious about their bookings and about having their procedure done. If you are unsure it’s ok to think about it and book when you have made up your mind. The deposit goes towards your full payment at the end of procedure and you just pay the remaining balance after the procedure. The deposit reduces the amount of last minute cancellations and no shows. If a client no shows or cancels last minute I am unable to book another client and end up losing a day of work.
What if I have a health related issue or family emergency and need to cancel last minute? Will I lose my deposit?
No, of course not. Life happens. However, each situation will be approached on an individual basis. I will always do my best to accommodate clients. I understand that life can be unpredictable. Kids get sick, schools get cancelled due to weather, etc. Nevertheless, the final decision is up to my discretion. Multiple cancellations or “excuses” will not be tolerated though. If you need to cancel please be up front and do it as soon as possible.
If I lost my brows from over plucking and they didn’t grow back do I qualify for “The Gift of Brows”?
No, unfortunately this does not qualify you. Currently “The Gift of Brows” is only open to individuals affected by Alopecia. However, I will consider accepting other clients on an individual basis, such as, chemotherapy patients. Please contact me if you have specific questions related to “The Gift of Brows” project or if you would like to help support the project in any way.
